Whether commemorating a special pet that has passed, giving a thoughtful gift for the holidays, or just trying to fill that perfect spot on the wall of your house, the fine artwork of Pet Portraits are wonderful human treats, even if it's for yourself. Turn those bland old photographs into works of art for display. There's no better way to express your love for your pet!
My pet portraits come in the options of two sizes, unless you are looking for a custom size. If you are interested in requesting a commission, please send your inquiry via facebook message or to my email at expressiveinstincts@gmail.com, and I will give you pricing information. Please note that a portrait can take up to 3-4 weeks to complete, depending on how many orders I have, so please order in advance from the day you need them.
In 2010, Lauren Butler graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design. In 2011, she moved to Portland, OR and continues to pursue her love of art and design.
After being around pets her entire life, she started drawing Pet Portraits as a hobby while in college.
I love making the animals come to life on the page, so I use a hyper realistic style with pencil and paper that involves thousands of marks with acute attention to details from photographs. The realistic style captures the personality of the animals in the drawings, and that’s my goal with every portrait – not to only display their appearance but also their personality. Attaining that goal always requires a certain level of intimacy and time with the drawing when I’m creating a portrait.
